Report on Activities and Tactile Materials Created by Isola Tour, Venezia

WHO WE ARE

The ISOLA TOUR Cultural Association was founded in 2014 in Venice with the aim of promoting the rich historical and artistic heritage of Venice, with particular attention to users with visual impairments, as well as families with children and individuals in situations of social disadvantage.The association's activities have been carried out on multiple levels:

  • Access to artistic goods and cultural heritage through guided tours, educational workshops, thematic itineraries, recreational and educational activities, tactile visits, and sensory experiences.

  • Professional development and training courses in the historical-artistic field, as well as in the dissemination, conservation, management, and protection of cultural heritage.


SUMMARY OF EDUCATIONAL ACTIVITIES


• 2016: Agreement with the Giorgio Franchetti Gallery at Ca' d'Oro in Venice to create thematic itineraries in English and Italian and activities dedicated to children.


• From 2016 to 2019: Collaboration with the Gallerie dell'Accademia in Venice for educational activities aimed at families; creation of guided tours and thematic itineraries for temporary exhibitions such as Aldo Manuzio. The Venetian Renaissance, Canova, Hayez, Cicognara. The Last Glory of Venice, The Young Tintoretto.


• 2020: Agreement with UICI.VE for the promotion and enjoyment of Venice's artistic and cultural heritage for people with visual disabilities; creation of a network of local cultural institutions.• 2021: Creation of online sound virtual tours for UICI.VE; agreement for conducting educational activities for the blind at museums such as the Giorgio Franchetti Gallery at Ca' d'Oro, the Museum of Oriental Art in Venice, the Grimani Palace Museum, and the National Archaeological Museum of Venice; participation as a partner in the project Ri.Gioco la mia parte – culturi-amo, in collaboration with the Institute for Research, Training, and Rehabilitation (I.Ri.Fo.R.) ONLUS and the Venice Section of the Italian Union of the Blind and Visually Impaired (UICI) ONLUS APS - Territorial Section of Venice; collaboration with the tour operator Viaggi Diffusi to make Venice increasingly accessible to blind tourists.


• 2022: Collaboration with the tour operator Planet Viaggi Accessibili to create bespoke itineraries for private tourists; collaboration with UICI.VE to create dedicated paths in the city; collaboration with ASSAI ONLUS for the development of routes in the city.


• 2022/2023: Collaboration with the Gallerie dell'Accademia in Venice for the Le Gallerie per Tutti! project, a multisensory visit program dedicated to the blind; creation of online sound virtual tours for UICI.VE.• 2024: Collaboration with the Giovanni Olivotti Social Cooperative for a path dedicated to young people from the therapeutic community; collaboration with UICI.VE for the creation of specific paths in the city; collaboration with I.Ri.FO.R. and the Il Castello Association for the creation of mobility paths within the AUTdoor project; collaboration with the Lega del Filo d'Oro ONLUS for a multisensory visit to Venice; the association was awarded funds from the 2024 Culture Fund of the Venice Foundation for the creation of a museum accessibility project at the Gallerie dell'Accademia in Venice (A TUTTO TATTO – Paths for the Visually Impaired and Blind at the Gallerie dell'Accademia of Venice).


• 2025: Continuing itineraries designed for UICI.VE and the Giovanni Olivotti Social Cooperative, private multisensory visits, activities planned for A TUTTO TATTO at the Gallerie dell'Accademia in Venice, and a new collaboration with the Olivetti Store.

Tactile Materials created:

  • Raised drawings of the Madonna with Child enthroned with two patrons by Paolo Venezianoù

  • a full resin reproduction of the Head of Helena by Antonio Canova

  • a resin reproduction of the façade of St. Mark's Basilica

  • a gilded resin reproduction of the frame of Paolo Veneziano's Coronation of the Virgin altarpiece

  • a resin Head of Cherubino from the Cozzi ceiling, a series of resin capitals in the three main orders, a series of tactile maps and raised drawings specifically designed for the Olivetti Store.
